About Professional Reports at DCRP
The final requirement for the MCP degree is completion of a Professional Report (PR), Client Research (CR) Report, or Master’s Thesis. All three involve individual work under the supervision of an outside client or DCRP faculty member; however, only the professional report involves working directly with a client. For more information, visit the Department of City & Regional Planning page on MCP CR PR or Master’s Thesis Requirements.
Professional reports take many different forms. Some examples:
- A market analysis for a supermarket in West Oakland
- A survey of artists’ needs in Silicon Valley
- A survey of the evolving mission of Bay Area community development corporations
- Development of an asset poverty index for San Francisco
- An analysis of the benefits of a shore to shore pathway on the Bay Bridge
- A description of how community-based organizations are using the internet and GIS
- An analysis of policy alternatives for day laborers in Berkeley
- A study of potential BRT corridors in San Francisco
- A strategy for façade improvements in Oakland’s Lower San Antonio neighborhood
Please see the planning reports website or the CCI website for other examples.
